PRESS: Authorities want tougher rules for video games make, sale

MOSCOW, Oct 26 (PRIME) -- The Russian government may oblige developers and producers of video games to mark content by age, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday citing the document and a government source.

The relevant bill is being prepared by the Economic Development Ministry, the Healthcare Ministry, the Digital Development Ministry, and the communications service.

The document also bans to produce and sell video games with the forbidden information. The relevant amendments are being prepared for the laws on information and protection of children.

Companies will rely in age labeling on the opinion of expert institutions, whose register will be kept by the Digital Development Ministry and the criteria of selection will be elaborated by the communications service. The document is to come in force on March 1, 2024.

The communications service told the daily that the law does not regulate computer games now.
